How to compare moving quotes correctly

Moving quotes split into hourly and flat-rate, and each hides different fees. An hourly quote that looks cheap can balloon with travel time, fuel surcharges, and stair fees. A flat quote that looks expensive may include everything.

Crew size and truck size drive the speed of the job — a 2-person crew on a 3-bedroom house will take all day; a 4-person crew finishes by noon. Ask for crew size in writing.

Compare insurance/valuation level, packing material cost, and long-carry or elevator fees. Released-value protection (60 cents per pound) is nearly worthless; full-value protection is the real coverage.
